Abstract
Takayasu arteritis (TAK) is a rare, chronic large vessel vasculitis that affects the aorta and its large branches. Valve damage is not low, although its incidence differs between populations, with a report between 20 to 45% with a female:male ratio of 4.8 to 1. Arterial inflammation is the central characteristic of the disease, variably associated with an acute phase systemic response. The case of a 25-year-old woman with a history of renal atrophy and heart failure who presented with seizures is presented; a discrepancy in blood pressure and peripheral pulses of extremities is identified; confirming diagnostic suspicion.
